Blacklist and Whitelist Strategies in Device-Rental Risk Control: Setup, Validation, and Review
Blacklists and whitelists can support risk control in phone-rental and installment businesses, but they cannot replace identity verification, affordability assessment, contract management, asset controls, or manual review.
Before using list data, a business should document the source and purpose, confirm a lawful basis for collection and sharing, restrict access, define retention periods, and provide correction and appeal channels. External data providers should be reviewed for authorization scope, update frequency, and error rates.
Internal testing should use a stated sample, period, decision standard, comparison group, and manual-review process. Results vary by platform, region, and customer segment, so a single rule cannot guarantee a fixed overdue or performance outcome.
